Amanda + Thorn are getting married next Spring! The KC Public library was the perfect spot for these bookworms, and it was so fun to shoot in a new location. I love when couples pick a location that is significant to their love story! Amanda told me all about the different book related decor that will be displayed at their wedding. So excited to see some of their favorites and, of course, the classics, displayed in a cool, unique way! Happy engagement you guys!
Caroline and Matthias are getting married next year! Their engagement shoot was absolutely perfect. Our original location ended up being blocked off, so I saw these gorgeous trees at a nearby park and thought we'd try them out. It couldn't have been more perfect for their Fall session!
These two love spending time in KC, checking out all of the local breweries and trying all the different beers. They brought some of their favorites to the session and we cracked them open at the end. I'm so excited to shoot their wedding next year.
In March I got to shoot my very first destination wedding!
I met Zoe whenever she booked me for some head shots for her business! She was opening her own Chiropractic office right here in Kearney, MO. Then she asked me to display some of my work in her office! So if you ever give her a visit, yup, those are my photos on the wall!
After her head shots, I started seeing her regularly as my chiropractor! I found out that she was engaged to Tyler and planning her wedding in the Dominican Republic. The day she messaged me inquiring about traveling to shoot her wedding there, I about had a heart attack. Of course I said yes! And it was the most awesome experience ever! I brought my hubby along and we had an awesome weekend with Zoe + Tyler and their wonderful families.
The resort even messed up our hotel rooms and Zoe wasn't going to have that, even though I assured her that we were fine in the downgraded room. Well, she's been to the DR several times, and she knew we were missing out. I felt so bad that even on her wedding weekend she put up a fight to make sure we had an awesome stay. When we got to our new room, we realized just why she fought so hard to get us the room we paid for! It was SUCH an upgrade. We had a Jacuzzi tub in our room and one out on our patio! It was so romantic. We didn't want to leave.
So thankful to Zoe + Tyler for the opportunity! And the love she continues to show to me, my family, and my business! Check out their gorgeous paradise wedding!
I've driven by this tree nursery a million times. It's on the way to my church, and I've gone to my church 3-4 times a week ever since I was in high school, just with the various events I'm a part of. One day as I was driving past it, and the sun was going down, I realized it would make such a beautiful location for photos! So I did what any photographer would do - find some people to style and model for me as soon as possible.
Enter Kristyn and Spenser. They were engaged to be married and needed some engagement photos, so it worked out perfectly. I asked her to model this burgundy dress for me, and she asked if she could wear the floral dress. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm obsessed with florals. So I definitely said yes. I even made a bouquet out of artificial flowers for the session! It was absolutely perfect. Even more than I had envisioned. I just adore the way they look at each other, don't you?!
My sister and her boyfriend are absolutely adorable. I did photos for them about 2 years ago for their anniversary, and we decided they needed some new ones for their anniversary this year! I also got to shoot at a new location in KC. My mom actually told us about this spot, and Mariah drove by to check it out while video chatting me.
It was the perfect backdrop! You can see a little bit of the first colors of Fall. The leaves just beginning to change and fall from the trees.
You can also see my kiddo photo bombing in the background of one of the photos. Normally I would edit that out. But since it's my sister's photos, I thought she'd appreciate her nephew running around in a few photos. Hee hee.
I seriously can't wait until Nicole + Josh's wedding next fall! I have a blast working with them every single time! We laugh the whole time. Their love is sweet and silly and fun, just like them. Nicole is a hair stylist in Kearney. And she's also my hair and make up artist for all of my boudoir sessions. So you'll see her around here a lot. She's amazing at what she does!
I grew up with Nicole, and she and Josh started dating in High School. Now, here we all are almost 7 years later! They're finally getting married!! I couldn't be happier for them. Their session was a little chilly, but it's okay because I like to make my couples get close and snuggled up anyway!
I hope you can sense the goofiness that is Josh, and that you enjoy their photos as much as I do.
Sweet little princess Anastasia. And her adorable little nursery!
I have been able to call Whitney my best friend for 10 whole years! I knew her in her youth and singleness. I stood beside her as she became a wife. And now I get to watch as her and Daniel become parents. I am so blessed to able to watch this little girl grow.
She was so sweet when I came to take her newborn photos. But she is always WIDE awake when I come to visit her! So unlike a little newborn! By the end she dozed off a little, and then I rocked her to sleep.
She is just so precious! I hope you enjoy the love between this little family!
Jessica and Sean's January wedding in West Bottoms KC was so beautiful. All the rustic tones of this historic building had me swooning. Paired with Jessica's decorations of pillar candles, accents of gold, and tons of greenery, this wedding was simple, timeless and elegant. Although a January wedding, and it was a beautiful overcast day, I don't remember ever being cold! We took a trip over to one of Kansas City's famous sites - the Liberty Memorial - for wedding party photos. Riding in an awesome party bus where the wedding party drank bud light, and the girls passed around a bottle of Rum Chata. It was a blast!

As promised, part two of Linsey + David's session by the lake, and IN the lake. Yup. We got in the water. Soaking our clothes in the lake is quickly becoming one of my favorite things to do at my sessions. Don't worry. Fall is practically here, so that'll put an end to those. Too cold. But next summer, you better believe I'll be getting in the water again.
I'm absolutely obsessed with this purple dress and that golden light. All I can say is, go extra for your photos! Buy that dress you've had your eye on, but had no reason to wear it. Wear those shoes you never wear anywhere else. Get your hair and make up professionally done! And be up for ANYTHING to get the photo. You will not regret the results.
I can't even tell you how obsessed I am with this session. Words fail. Linsey and David are literally so genuinely in love. It's unreal the way they look at each other. The laughs in these photos are 100% real. And we shared many laughs that evening. Linsey is one of the coolest people I've ever met. She has such a great sense of style, and she's always going on cool adventures. I love her Instagram feed.
She reached out to me last year for some anniversary photos and I was so impressed with her attention to detail and her styling! I wanted to try some new stuff, so I reached out to her and David earlier this summer to see if they would model for me again! She sent me a few outfit ideas and we set up a date and time, and I literally couldn't wait.
That evening I took 700 photos. Once I went through them all I narrowed it down to about 300. And her final gallery has 244 photos. So, I'm splitting this blog post in two, because otherwise you'd be scrolling FOREVER.
