When Mikayla showed up in this gorgeous outfit my heart jumped for joy! I knew that her skirt would look amazing on such a windy day. We took our session to the WW1 Museum. Obviously it's a popular spot for both tourist and photographer, but you just can't beat that view. It was such a cold fall day with the crazy wind, but we made it through with lots of hugs and snuggles.
Kate + Ryan // engaged // snuggle session // pillow fight // west bottoms kcmo // missouri engagement photographer
I got a new studio!! That's right! A few other photographers and I started renting this space in West Bottoms KC, and I'm so excited about this new chapter for my business. During these cold months I knew I wanted to snatch up a couple for some snuggle photos in the new space. Kate reached out to me for a snuggle engagement session, and I told her about my pillow fight inspiration. She was looking for a background with white washed brick walls. So we decided it was fate. We had so much fun jumping on the bed and dancing around the room. And the flying feathers everywhere was well worth the clean up. I took way too many photos, but I couldn't love them more. I hope you enjoy some of my favorites!
My best friends celebrated 10 years of being married January 3rd!! Wow! A whole decade! Dinae wanted to do some photos for their anniversary, so I suggested she wear her wedding dress and we recreate some of the images from their wedding day. Then we had a little fun of our own. It's fun to see how much changes in 10 years.
These two. I don't even have the words to describe what they mean to me. And what their marriage has taught me about my own. I hope I'm as happily married as them when we reach our 10 year mark. I'm forcing them to come along with us to Colorado for our anniversary trip this year, and you know I'll be taking my camera. So be prepared to see their faces again.
These two lovers!!! I had so much fun with Alexandra and Jake. It was a cold winter day, but we made the best of it. It even snowed a little during the session. Not enough so that you can really see it in the photos, but it still made for some sweet moments. Loose Park was the perfect backdrop, and I honestly don't get to shoot there enough. I'm so excited for their wedding this year!
The miracle of childbirth is one that I am beyond blessed to witness for the second time in my life. Nick and Megan emailed me a few months back looking for a photographer for their newest addition to their family- sweet baby Milo (pronounced mee-lo). Megan assured me that both of her previous births were pretty quick! So when Thanksgiving came and she was having contractions on and off the few days prior, we were thinking we were going to have a Thanksgiving baby! Milo had other thoughts. He almost came on his grandpa's birthday too,but decided he didn't want to wait that long! After several hours of labor, and a few redoses of epidural, we discovered that Megan's water had formed a little air pocket and it was making it pretty tough for baby to come down. Just a short time before midnight, and his grandpa's birthday, Milo pushed his way out into the world! I say Milo, because mom didn't have to do any pushing!! Once that water was fully broken and the air pocket moved he just slide right out! Lol. It was such a fascinating moment- seeing the human body do exactly what it was created to do! How great is our God!
Shawnee Mission was awesome! They devoted one on one care to Megan 99% of the day. And that other 1% was just when they left the room so she could rest or sleep! It was an awesome experience, and I can't wait for more births to come!
Amanda + Thorn are getting married next Spring! The KC Public library was the perfect spot for these bookworms, and it was so fun to shoot in a new location. I love when couples pick a location that is significant to their love story! Amanda told me all about the different book related decor that will be displayed at their wedding. So excited to see some of their favorites and, of course, the classics, displayed in a cool, unique way! Happy engagement you guys!
Caroline and Matthias are getting married next year! Their engagement shoot was absolutely perfect. Our original location ended up being blocked off, so I saw these gorgeous trees at a nearby park and thought we'd try them out. It couldn't have been more perfect for their Fall session!
These two love spending time in KC, checking out all of the local breweries and trying all the different beers. They brought some of their favorites to the session and we cracked them open at the end. I'm so excited to shoot their wedding next year.
In March I got to shoot my very first destination wedding!
I met Zoe whenever she booked me for some head shots for her business! She was opening her own Chiropractic office right here in Kearney, MO. Then she asked me to display some of my work in her office! So if you ever give her a visit, yup, those are my photos on the wall!
After her head shots, I started seeing her regularly as my chiropractor! I found out that she was engaged to Tyler and planning her wedding in the Dominican Republic. The day she messaged me inquiring about traveling to shoot her wedding there, I about had a heart attack. Of course I said yes! And it was the most awesome experience ever! I brought my hubby along and we had an awesome weekend with Zoe + Tyler and their wonderful families.
The resort even messed up our hotel rooms and Zoe wasn't going to have that, even though I assured her that we were fine in the downgraded room. Well, she's been to the DR several times, and she knew we were missing out. I felt so bad that even on her wedding weekend she put up a fight to make sure we had an awesome stay. When we got to our new room, we realized just why she fought so hard to get us the room we paid for! It was SUCH an upgrade. We had a Jacuzzi tub in our room and one out on our patio! It was so romantic. We didn't want to leave.
So thankful to Zoe + Tyler for the opportunity! And the love she continues to show to me, my family, and my business! Check out their gorgeous paradise wedding!
I've driven by this tree nursery a million times. It's on the way to my church, and I've gone to my church 3-4 times a week ever since I was in high school, just with the various events I'm a part of. One day as I was driving past it, and the sun was going down, I realized it would make such a beautiful location for photos! So I did what any photographer would do - find some people to style and model for me as soon as possible.
Enter Kristyn and Spenser. They were engaged to be married and needed some engagement photos, so it worked out perfectly. I asked her to model this burgundy dress for me, and she asked if she could wear the floral dress. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm obsessed with florals. So I definitely said yes. I even made a bouquet out of artificial flowers for the session! It was absolutely perfect. Even more than I had envisioned. I just adore the way they look at each other, don't you?!
My sister and her boyfriend are absolutely adorable. I did photos for them about 2 years ago for their anniversary, and we decided they needed some new ones for their anniversary this year! I also got to shoot at a new location in KC. My mom actually told us about this spot, and Mariah drove by to check it out while video chatting me.
It was the perfect backdrop! You can see a little bit of the first colors of Fall. The leaves just beginning to change and fall from the trees.
You can also see my kiddo photo bombing in the background of one of the photos. Normally I would edit that out. But since it's my sister's photos, I thought she'd appreciate her nephew running around in a few photos. Hee hee.
